RONCEVERTE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A man previously arrested for domestic assault is once again under investigation after a violent altercation at a Dollar General store in Ronceverte on Thursday, April 17.
At approximately 6:05 p.m., Trooper J.D. Dowdy of the West Virginia State Police was dispatched to the store at 2715 Seneca Trail South following reports of a domestic dispute in progress. According to store manager, a black male and white female — later identified as Alphrin Norman and his wife — were seen arguing inside the store before the situation turned physical.
She reported seeing Norman grab the female multiple times while shouting at her, prompting her to call 911. Moments later, a bystander entered the store claiming to have witnessed Norman punch the female in the parking lot. The pair then fled the scene in a dark-colored Ford SUV heading toward Monroe County, leaving behind the victim’s sister.
Trooper Dowdy, joined by a Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Deputy familiar with the couple, confirmed that Norman had been arrested on March 21 for domestic assault against the female. A court order issued at that time barred Norman from having any direct or indirect contact with her.
Surveillance footage from the Dollar General confirmed the manager’s account, showing Norman pushing and grabbing the victim in view of multiple witnesses. A written statement from the victim’s sister, corroborated the account, describing how the victim ran into the store pursued by Norman, who was yelling about a missing phone.
Efforts to locate the couple after the incident were unsuccessful. When officers visited the home on Childers Road, they were told the pair had not returned.
Authorities are continuing their search for Alphrin Norman and urge anyone with information on the couple’s whereabouts to contact the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office.
Trooper Dowdy stated that, based on evidence and witness testimony, there is cause to believe Norman violated his no-contact order and intentionally inflicted physical harm on his wife.
Norman was later arrested and charged with domestic battery.
