SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On August 22, 2021, at around 8 pm, Deputy J.S. Ward responded to a drug activity call at the Gotta Stop gas station in Hilldale.
Upon arriving, he determined that David Smith, 37 of Hinton, had dropped a large bag of Methamphetamine. This resulted in an investigation being launched by the Sheriff’s Department. On August 23, surveillance was conducted on the residence of David Smith on 8th Avenue in Hinton.
During said surveillance, several people entered the residence and stayed for a short time period, and left. A short time later, David Smith was seen leaving home and was stopped for driving without a license.
At that time, the Sheriff’s Department assisted the WV Parole Office with a search of the vehicle and his residence.
During the investigation, several items were seized, which are consistent with the distribution of illegal drugs.
A large amount of US currency and a pistol were also seized. David Smith was arrested for a parole violation, and additional charges are pending.
