MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Gary man has been arrested on a child pornography charge following an investigation by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, Robert Curtis, of Family Lane in Gary, was arrested on July 9 and charged with possession of child pornography.
The investigation was led by Detective R. V. Johnson, with assistance from other members of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the investigation stemmed from a separate incident that occurred in November 2025.
During the investigation, Detective Johnson, with the assistance of forensic analysis, identified and recovered numerous images containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to the sheriff’s office.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to protecting children and aggressively investigating crimes involving the exploitation of minors. Anyone with information regarding crimes against children is encouraged to contact the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office or the McDowell County/Wyoming County Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Curtis is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
