MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after deputies discovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs during a welfare check in Berkeley County.
At approximately 5:33 a.m. on June 18, 2025, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy Corporal Leonard was dispatched to the Apple Harvest Sheetz for a report of a man passed out in his vehicle.
When he arrived, emergency medical personnel were already on scene, parked behind the vehicle in question.
The suspect, later identified as Corey Scott Boone, 35, was found staggering near his vehicle.
During the investigation, Corporal Leonard located a baggie shoved in Boone’s jacket pocket.
Inside the bag were 30 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 28 grams of suspected cocaine, 12 grams of suspected fentanyl capsules, and 78 Gabapentin pills.
Sergeants Ennis and Wolfe assisted in the investigation.
Boone was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
