JUNIOR, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is behind bars after he assaulted a woman with a baseball bat and strangled her.
On Wednesday, October 25, 2024, at approximately 11:51 a.m., authorities responded to an emergency call reporting a suicidal man at a residence on Oak Avenue in Junior, Barbour County, West Virginia. The incident involved a suspect identified as Bill Edward Swecker, who allegedly assaulted a woman in the home before fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival, police spoke with a visibly distressed woman. According to her, Swecker had been “going crazy” and began to destroy items within the house. She reported that he attempted to assault her twice with a baseball bat, swinging it in her direction and causing damage to a plastic cabinet in the home. Officers later observed two holes in the cabinet that appeared to align with her account of the incident.
The victim further alleged that Swecker forcibly threw her to the ground, then placed his thumbs on her neck, choking her until she nearly lost consciousness. After the assault, Swecker reportedly left the residence in an unknown direction. Officers recovered the damaged baseball bat from the scene as evidence.
Swecker was later found and arrested.
