MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mason County man is facing serious charges after authorities say he entered the Point Pleasant Police Department and started a fire inside the building.
According to investigators, on August 8, 2025, Keith W. Burns entered the police department on Viand Street without forced entry. Once inside, Burns allegedly set fire to a box, ransacked the office, and ate food before moving into the connected city building to search through other offices.
During an interview with police, Burns reportedly admitted he had entered the station looking for a firearm, claiming he needed it to defend himself from people “chasing him” who he believed were “chipped.”
Authorities say the incident caused damage and disrupted operations at the police department.
