WILLIAMSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Williamson man is facing multiple charges after allegedly making threats toward people inside the Williamson Fire Department, according to the West Virginia State Police.
State Police said troopers from the Williamson Detachment responded on July 19, 2026, to a report of a man causing a disturbance at the Williamson Fire Department.
Upon arriving, troopers determined that Israel N. Varney, 33, of Williamson, had allegedly made terroristic threats toward individuals inside the fire department while exhibiting erratic behavior.
According to the West Virginia State Police, troopers later located Varney walking toward his vehicle and observed an AR-15-style rifle in plain view on the front seat.
Troopers made contact with Varney, who they said appeared to be highly intoxicated and continued making threats toward members of the fire department.
Varney was taken into custody without incident and charged with terroristic threats, nighttime burglary, prohibited person in possession of a firearm – habitual user, and assault.
He was transported to the Southwestern Regional Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment.
