BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Beckley man is facing charges after police say he brandished and revved a chainsaw during a parking lot confrontation at O’Reilly Auto Parts on September 11.
According to police, officers were dispatched to 307 Beckley Plaza after receiving reports of a man threatening people with a chainsaw. When officers arrived, they identified the suspect as Aaron Kaylor.
Kaylor admitted to revving the chainsaw but claimed he only did so because another person had been revving a car engine in the lot and it annoyed him.
The complainant told police that Kaylor approached a group of people in the parking lot while holding the chainsaw. Witnesses said several individuals quickly scattered as Kaylor revved the chainsaw near them in what they felt was a threatening manner. One individual reported Kaylor acted as if he intended to damage a vehicle’s engine block.
No injuries were reported, but Kaylor has been charged with brandishing a deadly weapon.
The incident remains under investigation by Beckley Police.
