POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Mason County man is facing charges after police say he fired a gun that struck a home and nearly hit a resident inside.
According to authorities, the incident happened on Friday, February 20, 2025, near the intersection of Robinson Street and Franklin Avenue in Point Pleasant.
Police allege that Elijah Michael Ramsey removed a firearm from his pants and fired a shot toward the east. The bullet struck a residence at 515 Robinson Street and penetrated the wall, passing near the head of a woman inside the home identified as Ellen Smith.
Investigators say no injuries were reported.
On Sunday, February 22, 2026, Ramsey was interviewed at the Point Pleasant Police Department after being read his Miranda rights. During that interview, police say he provided a written confession admitting to discharging the firearm during the incident.
Based on that confession, authorities are seeking an arrest warrant charging Ramsey with one count of wanton endangerment involving a firearm.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
