MARTINSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been convicted for the malicious assault of a fellow inmate at Eastern Regional Jail.
Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney Cate Wilkes Delligatti has announced that on Friday, July 21, 2023, a Berkeley County jury found Desmond Lamont Davis, 32, originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, guilty of the felony offenses of Malicious Assault and Conspiracy to Commit Malicious Assault stemming from the March 13, 2022, attack of another inmate at the Eastern Regional Jail.
Davis now faces three to fifteen (3-15) years in prison.
Upon the return of the jury’s verdict, the Defendant was remanded to the Eastern Regional Jail to await sentencing.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for September 19, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. The two-day trial was held before the Honorable R. Steven Redding, Chief Judge, Twenty-Third Judicial Circuit.
This matter was investigated by Investigator Bean of the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force and prosecuted by Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Joseph R. Kinser and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Raymond E. Boyce, Jr.
