CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been convicted after shooting and killing another man in Kanawha County.
According to the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office, Tyran Boisa Gray, 26, of Detroit, MI, was convicted Monday of First Degree Murder by a Kanawha County jury following a three-day trial.
Gray was also found guilty of three firearm-related charges.
According to court documents, on September 9, 2022 at approximately 6:30 in the evening, Gray ran between houses on Wyoming Street, shooting and killing Norman Sweeney, who was standing beside his daughter in the street at the time.
Gray then fled first on foot and then in a vehicle.
Gray is scheduled to be sentenced on June 18, 2024 at 9:00 am, faces confinement in the penitentiary for life for Mr. Sweeney’s Murder.
The jury returned a recommendation of mercy.
He will additionally face up to twenty more years in the penitentiary following his convictions for Use or Presentment of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Wanton Endangerment with a Firearm, and Prohibited Person in Possession of a firearm.
Gray was found not guilty of Conspiracy to Comit Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
