MCCONNELL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The driver of a dirt bike sustained fatal injuries during a Monday morning accident in Logan County.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, on Monday, March 27, 2023, at approximately 5:11am, reports of a one-vehicle crash on Hanging Rock Highway near the McConnell area were received.
Corporal C.A. Crum of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, where it was observed that a male had been operating a dirt bike which encountered a rockslide/tree that was blocking the roadway.
It is believed that the driver of the vehicle did not see the roadway blockage and collided with the tree. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and incurred fatal injuries as a result.
The identify of the individual operating the dirt bike remains uncertain, and the driver had no forms of identification on their person at the time they were discovered.
The driver was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office, and the identity remains under investigation.
AEP and West Virginia Department of Highways were also dispatched to the scene of the accident, and as of Monday afternoon the scene remains in the process of being cleared.
