BARBOUR COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A tense domestic incident involving a firearm ended with one man in custody after Barbour County deputies responded to a 911 call on Arden Road Friday, May 9.
According to law enforcement, Craig Anthony Sedlers was seen pulling his girlfriend by the arm when Deputies C. Curkendall and A. Williams arrived on the scene. Sedlers was quickly apprehended without further incident.
She told officers she had pulled over and attempted to get away from Sedlers when he pulled out a 9mm pistol and fired two rounds out of the vehicle’s window, allegedly to intimidate her and stop her from leaving. Sedlers then tried to forcibly drag her back into the car to take her home against her will — moments before deputies intervened.
After being read his Miranda rights, Sedlers admitted to discharging the firearm, claiming he had shot into the dirt in front of the vehicle. However, deputies recovered one shell casing on the driver’s side floor and another in the roadway on the opposite side of the truck, indicating the shots were likely fired across the road and into a nearby wooded area.
The reckless discharge of the firearm occurred in a residential area with passing traffic, putting others at risk, according to deputies.
Sedlers now faces charges related to domestic violence and reckless endangerment.
