SUMMERVILLE, SC (LOOTPRESS) – A man is dead after setting off a firework on his head.
The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased individual in a fireworks mishap as Allen Ray McGrew, aged 41. McGrew passed away as a result of lighting a “large firework device” and placing it on his head.
The coroner has reported that the firework detonated on his head, resulting in severe head injuries.
According to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office, the victim was participating in a neighborhood block party when the tragic incident occurred. It has been confirmed that onlookers made efforts to prevent the accident.
Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Cottonwood Drive in the Crestwood Subdivision in Summerville, South Carolina, shortly after 10:20 p.m. on Thursday in response to the incident.
