RANDOLPH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on East Dailey Road on February 17 after his car slid off the road and overturned into a stream, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to reports of a sedan upside down in the water and found the vehicle fully submerged.
Authorities determined that the driver, identified as Austin J. Lawrence, lost control due to extremely slick road conditions.
His vehicle slid off the right side of the road, overturned, and landed on its roof in the stream.
After emergency crews removed the vehicle from the water, they found Lawrence still inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Randolph County EMS, the Tygart Valley Fire Department, and the Elkins Fire Department assisted at the accident site.
