FAIRLEA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Fairlea man was taken into custody on Monday, June 30, 2025, following a standoff with deputies from the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence on Wykle Street to serve felony and misdemeanor warrants on Jorge Elpido Erazo-Jimenez, who was wanted for malicious wounding and domestic battery.
After speaking with neighbors and his sister, who also lives at the residence, deputies confirmed that Erazo-Jimenez had entered the home and had not left.
Authorities made repeated announcements in both English and Spanish, but Erazo-Jimenez refused to open the door.
Deputies then forced entry and found him barricaded inside the master bedroom.
He refused to comply with commands to show his hands, prompting deputies to take him to the ground in order to effect the arrest safely.
Erazo-Jimenez reportedly resisted by tensing his arms and refusing to be handcuffed. Once subdued, he was transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for medical clearance and then taken to Southern Regional Jail.
In addition to the active warrants, Erazo-Jimenez was charged with obstructing an officer.
Authorities later discovered that he had been deported to Honduras in 2016 and is currently in the United States without legal immigration status.
The Department of Homeland Security was contacted, and a detainer was issued for him at Southern Regional Jail.
