FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Virginia man was sentenced in Fayette County Court this month in relation to a domestic incident involving a woman and juvenile.
According to Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney, Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., on April 18, 2023, the Oak Hill Police Department responded to reports of a domestic incident between a male and female at an Oak Hill residence.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the female victim along with a juvenile victim inside the residence. The female reported that she and the juvenile had been attacked by Christopher T. Stephens – 44 years old of Newcastle, Virginia – in an altercation about a debit card.
The victim advised police that Stephens had struck and strangled her, and when the juvenile attempted to intervene, they too were struck by Stephens.
The perpetrator had fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived at the residence.
On January 8, 2024, Christopher T. Stephens was sentenced by Chief Judge Paul M. Blake to two one-year sentences for each conviction of domestic battery. Stephens plead guilty to these crimes on November 14, 2023.
Judge Blake issued to sentences consecutively, which means Stephens must spend a minimum of one year in jail.
These crimes were investigated by the Oak Hill Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Sarah F. Smith.
