MINERAL WELLS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Ohio man faces charges following an incident in which a Wood County man was assaulted and held hostage last month.
According to reports from Wood County Magistrate Court, on Friday, November 24, 2023, Sgt. J.S. Kidder with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Go Mart convenience store located at 128 Elizabeth Pike in Mineral Wells.
The victim, identified as Jeffrey Brown, was located inside the store and reportedly displayed two black, swollen eyes, blood on the right side of his head with a laceration, and a tear to his right ear.
Responding law enforcement was informed that the events took place at a Mineral Wells residence where the victim was pistol whipped, leading to his injuries. The victim stated he had been struck multiple times in the head with a firearm, and that the perpetrator of the incident possessed three separate handguns.
Responding to the residence in question, authorities noted blood on the living room couch as well as blood-covered towels and clothing in the laundry. The defendant was located in the master bedroom area and was seen to have dried blood on his hand as well as his jeans.
Additionally, an unused 9mm round was discovered inside the defendant’s right pants pocket, and three firearms were discovered inside a Toyota Camry bearing Ohio registration parked at the residence.
As a result of the executed search warrants, Jacob A. Stewart of Portland, Ohio has been charged with Malicious Assault.
