FLAT TOP, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A late-night domestic disturbance on Thursday, June 26, 2025, led to the arrest of a Mercer County man after deputies say he assaulted his girlfriend while intoxicated.
At approximately 11:39 p.m., Deputies J.P. Conner and W.C. Morrow responded to a residence on Lilly Road in the Flat Top area after a female victim called Mercer County 911, reporting that her live-in boyfriend, Joshua Forrest, was drunk and had assaulted her.
When officers arrived, they heard a male voice coming from inside the mobile home. The front door was open. Upon entry and after announcing themselves, Deputy Morrow escorted Forrest to the front porch for questioning. Deputies noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from him.
The victim told officers that Forrest had been drinking Four Loko and became agitated after she asked him to lower the volume of his music. She said she retreated to the bedroom where her two young children were asleep, but Forrest followed her, poured his drink on her, threw the can, grabbed her wrist, pushed her face, and kicked her in the leg.
The victim gave officers an audio-recorded statement of the incident but declined medical treatment. No visible injuries were noted at the time.
Forrest was arrested and charged with domestic battery. He was processed at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office before being transported to Southern Regional Jail.
