PINCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man is dead after being shot by a security guard at a job site.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:38 PM, KCSO Deputies were dispatched to a shooting on Stella Drive in the Pinch area of Kanawha County.
Metro 911 received a call that a security guard at the TC Energy job site got into an altercation with a male when the shooting occurred.
Deputies arrived to learn the suspect had pulled up behind some stopped oil company trucks on Upper Pinch Road.
The suspect exited his vehicle and got into a disturbance with everyone on the scene including an armed security guard.
The disturbance escalated and it has been alleged the suspect pulled out a firearm and was subsequently shot by the security guard, according to police.
A 64-year-old male from Pinch, West Virginia died at the scene from a single gunshot wound.
The security guard at the job site was not injured in the incident and has been cooperating with law enforcement.
At this time, the investigation remains in the early stages and no criminal charges have been filed against the security guard.
Police say it is still too early in the investigation to speculate if charges are expected to be filed; however, they will continue to update as new information develops.
