CRANESVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man wanted for attempted murder in Maryland was arrested in Preston County on Wednesday after crashing a stolen vehicle, according to the Preston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were alerted on February 5 that a vehicle had been stolen from the Cuzzart area.
The vehicle was later spotted in Maryland near the state line by Cranesville.
Deputies located it in Cranesville, but the driver attempted to flee before crashing a short distance away.
The driver, identified as 46-year-old Shawn Boogher, was taken into custody.
Authorities confirmed that Boogher had outstanding warrants from Maryland for attempted murder.
He was arrested as a fugitive from justice and will be extradited to Maryland. Additional charges are pending in West Virginia.
The West Virginia State Police assisted in the apprehension.
