Mary Ann Egich Farmer entered the Heavenly Gates on September 14, 2022, at the age of 92.
Mary Ann was born in Prenter, West Virginia on August 4, 1930, to Eli and Anna Egich. She was raised in Eccles in Stoots Hollow and told amazing stories of her life there. She was exceptionally proud of her family’s Yugoslavian ancestry and their coal mining heritage.
Mary Ann greatly loved her family and friends. She was the yard sale queen, enjoyed watching Hallmark movies especially at Christmas time, spent time at Lake Stephens with her camping family, and never left the house without her makeup – red lipstick, blush, and eyebrow pencil. She always dressed to impress.
She graduated from Trap Hill High School in 1948 and received a teaching degree from Concord College in 1952. As both a teacher and post master, she touched many lives in the communities she served.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Farmer, her parents, and four brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Alecia Peters (Gary) and Al Farmer (Tracie); and grandchildren Travis Peters, Josh Farmer (Brandi), Jenny Peters, Allie Farmer, Anna Stover (Steve), Megan Hill (Carl), Kay-D Farmer. She is also survived by her Bullick nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Betty Egich. Special friends include Ennice Trump, Jim Hall, Teresa Terry, and J.R. Dorton.
She will always be our sunshine. We love you a bushel and a hammer.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Mary Ann’s life on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church in Bolt, WV with Pastor Dewey Lowe officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
