MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County man is in custody after authorities say he was spotted acting erratically and refusing to drop a weapon in the Halls Ridge area on Tuesday morning.
According to the West Virginia State Police, at around 10:58 a.m. on August 5, 2025, troopers were dispatched to Antelope Lane after receiving reports of a man behaving strangely in a yard. The suspect, identified as Shane Marshall, was located nearby on Halls Ridge Road.
Troopers say Marshall appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was holding what looked like a knife or screwdriver. Despite repeated commands to drop the object, he refused and began walking away from the responding officer.
Backup units arrived, and Marshall was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Princeton Detachment for processing.
