MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County man has been charged following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a juvenile.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mercer County Magistrate Court, 43-year-old Joshua Roberts is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old at a residence in Princeton.
The complaint states that the alleged incident occurred on the morning of March 17, 2025, and was later reported to authorities after the child was taken to a local hospital for a sexual assault examination.
Investigators said the victim disclosed during a forensic interview that Roberts had touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions since she was a young child.
The complaint also notes that physical evidence consistent with the victim’s account was documented by medical staff.
Roberts allegedly left the residence later the same day after being confronted about the allegations. He was later interviewed by law enforcement and charged in connection with the reported assaults.
He has been charged with three counts of incest, sexual abuse by parent, guardian, custodian or person of trust, sexual assault first degree, and domestic battery.
