MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – According to Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran, Richard Aaron England, age 53, of Athens, West Virginia, was sentenced to the maximum penalty of 12 to 30 years in prison for his two convictions of Distribution and Exhibition of Material Depicting Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, and Sexual Abuse by a Parent Guardian, Custodian, or a Person in a Position of Trust.
According to Cochran, England was sentenced by Mercer County Circuit Court Judge Mark Wills on January 30, 2025. Judge Wills also ordered that England be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life and that he serve an additional 20 years of supervised release upon his release from prison. England was indicted by the June 2024, Mercer County Grand Jury.
Cochran thanked the West Virginia State Police for its thorough investigation. Cochran further said “we appreciate our law enforcement officers for getting after the local child predators like England, and I’m proud to say that our staff at our prosecutor’s office works extremely well with law enforcementand is doing everything possible to help law enforcement get these people out of our community and away from our children.”
