PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Mercer County Schools is mourning the loss of two Princeton Senior High School students who died following a car crash in Mercer County.
In a statement shared on social media, the school district said it was “with profound sadness” that officials were addressing the deaths of the students.
“Mercer County Public Schools shares the tragic loss of two Princeton Senior High School students,” the statement said.
The district expressed condolences to the victims’ loved ones and the school community.
“Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with their family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who knew and loved them during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.
School officials said support services were immediately made available following the tragedy.
“In response to this tragedy, school counselors and district crisis response team members were immediately dispatched to Princeton Senior High School and Bluefield High School (where the students once attended) to provide support and assistance to students and staff as they process this heartbreaking loss,” according to the statement.
The district also asked the community to keep those affected in their thoughts.
“We ask our community to keep this family and the entire Princeton Senior High School community in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead,” the statement said.
