MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Princeton woman was arrested following a reported robbery and altercation at a residence in Mercer County, according to court documents.
April Piersall, of Princeton, was taken into custody on Dec. 27 after police were dispatched to a home on Brown Street around 1 p.m. for a report of a robbery in progress.
Authorities said an unknown woman was outside the residence demanding keys to a vehicle parked on the property and claiming the property belonged to her.
Court records state that during the incident, the suspect allegedly gained access to the vehicle, took a purse, and became involved in a physical altercation with the elderly resident.
Officers arriving at the scene observed the resident bleeding from the arm. Police noted the victim appeared to have difficulty controlling the bleeding due to medication.
Officers reported that Piersall acted in an impaired manner and resisted officers as they attempted to place her into custody. During a search, police allegedly discovered a rolled joint containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in her pocket.
Piersall was transported to the Princeton Police Department, where she initially provided a false name to officers. Fingerprint identification later confirmed her identity as April Piersall, according to the complaint.
Investigators said the suspect also entered an outbuilding on the property without permission and opened several pieces of mail belonging to the resident, with an estimated value of about $5. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene before police cleared the call.
Piersall is facing multiple charges, including robbery or attempted robbery, obstructing an officer, unlawful entry of a building other than a dwelling, destruction of property, and simple possession of a controlled substance.
She is currently at Southern Regional Jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
