PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A situation which reportedly arose at Pineville Middle School on Thursday led to the conducting of an investigation into rumors of purported danger.
According to Pineville Middle School Principal Brian Dillon, the situation in question involved the false perception of an unnamed danger at the middle school.
This falsehood apparently was spread throughout the school and beyond by use of phones by students in the school.
“Today a situation arose where students in the school erroneously believed that we were in danger of some sort of incident,” read the statement. “These students then began to treat this rumor as fact and used their phones to perpetrate this falsehood.”
An investigation was conducted into the situation based on the high-alert status of the students involved, and the rumors of a dangerous situation are reported to have been disproven.
“Even though the school was never, at any time in danger, a thorough investigation was implemented and completed and found zero credibility to these rumors,” the statement continued.
“Student safety is our number one concern and we apologize for the upheaval that this misunderstanding may have caused.”
The information was subsequently released by the Wyoming County Board of Education.
