Mildred Louise Meador, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2024.
She was living at Our Lady of the Valley, an assisted living facility in Roanoke, VA. She lived in Jumping Branch, WV for many years.
Born on November 15, 1935 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Woodrow Brown and the late Mary Kathleen Lilly Brown.
Mildred was a graduate of Talcott High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Jumping Branch Tabernacle where she was active in the Mary Etta Mission Circle. She also sang in the church choir. At the assisted living facility, she always attended the chapel. She was a devout Christian. Mildred was a member of the Summers County Historical Society. She also attended the Jumping Branch-Nimitz Senior Citizens Center.
Mildred and her husband of 67 years, Dick Meador, raised strawberries and produce on their truck farm in Jumping Branch. Mildred loved growing flowers. She was also an excellent seamstress and crafts person. She had a special gift for making beautiful flower arrangements, and she was proud of decorating her home and church for many occasions. She was very fond of animals.
Mildred had many friends at Our Lady of the Valley. She participated whole-heartedly in many activities. She liked to walk and loved working jigsaw puzzles in the evenings.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. “Dick” Meador and her sister, Ruth Ann Miller.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debra Cole of Jumping Branch, WV; son, Stephen Meador (Laura) of Haymarket, VA; beloved grandchildren, Timothy Cole (Sarah) of Roanoke, VA, Sarah Hunt (Brandon) of Cochranton, PA, Holly Patterson (Brett) of Aldie, VA, and Brian Meador (Gina) of Pinehurst, NC; beloved great grandchildren, Brayden and Brooke Peterson, Noah, Meadow, and Beau Patterson, and Perry and Charley Meador; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton, WV with Pastors Tom and Dalene Coffman officiating. For those wishing to attend the graveside service, please meet at Pivont Funeral Home at 12:30 pm. A visitation will be on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
After the burial, refreshments will be provided at the Jumping Branch Gospel Tabernacle in the Fellowship Hall.
