MONROE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Monroe County Commission is proud to announce the purchase of the county’s first 2024 Dodge Ram Truck Cruiser, funded entirely by jail reimbursement money.
This investment in the county’s fleet enhances public safety efforts and provides a robust, versatile vehicle for the county’s law enforcement.
The newly acquired 2024 Dodge Ram Truck Cruiser will be an essential tool for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, helping to improve response times, navigate difficult terrain, and enhance overall patrol capabilities across the county. The truck’s rugged design and advanced technology ensure it will be an effective addition for both routine patrol and emergency situations.
Monroe County Commission President Galford expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition. “This new vehicle is a significant upgrade for our Sheriff’s Office. We are always looking for ways to support our law enforcement while ensuring that taxpayer money is spent wisely. By using jail reimbursement funds, we were able to make this purchase without impacting the county’s general budget.”
Jail reimbursement funds are received from the state as compensation for housing inmates in the Monroe County Jail. The commission saw an opportunity to use these funds to directly enhance public safety through the purchase of the vehicle.
Sheriff Michael Miller, who leads the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, added, “The 2024 Dodge Ram will be a game-changer for our department, allowing us to operate more efficiently in rural areas and respond swiftly in critical situations. We are grateful to the Monroe County Commission for making this possible.”
This is the first step in a broader initiative to modernize the county’s fleet with vehicles that are more reliable, durable, and suited for the demands of the job.
The Dodge Ram Truck Cruiser is equipped with the latest safety and performance features, ensuring that Monroe County law enforcement officers have the tools they need to serve and protect the community effectively.
