MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mount Hope resident is facing multiple felony charges following a traffic stop earlier today in Fayette County.
According to Fayette County Sheriff Shannon Morris, deputies were conducting routine traffic enforcement in Mount Hope on October 15, 2024, when they pulled over a vehicle for a minor traffic violation.
During the stop, deputies discovered the driver’s license was revoked. The driver informed officers that narcotics were inside the vehicle, prompting a search.
Deputies found a significant amount of suspected methamphetamine, along with a large number of small ziplock bags and a digital scale, indicating potential drug distribution.
Jeffrey A. James, 56, of Mount Hope, has been charged with felony Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotics and 3rd Offense Driving While License Revoked for DUI.
He also faces a misdemeanor charge for defective auto equipment. James is now awaiting further court proceedings.
