BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – With federal food assistance facing delays, the Mountaineer Food Bank is calling on West Virginians to step up and help keep families fed. The organization has issued an urgent appeal for 100 volunteers to raise $1,000 each to fill the gap left by lapses in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding.
Every dollar donated through this campaign will be matched by the state of West Virginia, doubling the impact of each contribution.
Mountaineer Food Bank outlined simple steps for those who want to help:
1️⃣ Visit the Mountaineer Food Bank’s Facebook page.
2️⃣ Select “Fundraisers” → “Raise Money.”
3️⃣ Set your goal to $1,000 and title it “Keep WV Fed.”
4️⃣ Write a short message about why you’re joining the effort to fill the SNAP gap.
5️⃣ Share your fundraiser and tag @MountaineerFoodBank to encourage others to get involved.
The campaign comes at a critical time, as food banks across the state brace for increased demand amid uncertainty surrounding federal benefits.
Mountaineer Food Bank officials say community support is crucial to ensure no family goes hungry while the SNAP issue is resolved.
