UPDATE: Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:30 am (LOOTPRESS) – New details are emerging after a man was charged in connection to a body found of a missing Raleigh County woman.
According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, on March 23, 2023, they took a report of a missing person named Crystal Collins from a family member. The family member said the last time she spoke to Collins was at the beginning of February 2023.
On Monday, April 17, 2023, Deputies spoke to Timmy Powers. He stated that the last time he saw Collins was at the beginning of February 2023, passed out in the back bedroom of 157 Locust Street in Fairdale, an abandoned residence. During a search warrant, a body was discovered in the rear bedroom in the closet, buried under some broken sheetrock and tires.
On Friday, April 21, 2023, Powers’ waived his rights during a recorded interview. During the interview, he admitted that another guy told him that Collins was passed out on the floor and would not wake up. Mr. Powers then said he went to the abandoned residence and found Collins there. While there, Powers alleged he tried to take lifesaving measures but could not save her. Mr. Powers then said he returned to his house and got a Christmas tree bag and sleeping bag. Powers then said he placed Collins in the Christmas tree bag with a sleeping bag to keep her warm. After that, he then buried her in sheetrock and tires in the closet.
Powers said he didn’t call 911 because he was scared and wanted by law enforcement.
Powers was charged with concealing a dead body.

UPDATE: RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man charged in connection with a body found in Raleigh County has been named.
Earlier today, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of a deceased body found in the Fairdale area, which was positively identified as Crystal Collins.
Deputies tell Lootpress that Timmy Lee Powers, 34, has been charged with concealing a deceased human body. Â Court records show he was arrested on April 17, 2023, on a warrant, deceased human body, and animal cruelty.
Powers was arrested back in 2019 for burglary out of Fayette County. Â In 2015, Powers was arrested and charged with obstructing false information, conspiracy to commit a felony, and operating a clandestine drug lab. In 2014, Powers was charged with conspiracy and destroying no trespassing signs.

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On April 17, 2023, The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office found a deceased body in the Fairdale area.
On May 10, 2023, the Medical Examiner’s Office notified deputies that they were able to make a positive identification, and it was Crystal Collins.
Collins was reported missing on March 23, 2023, by a family member.
One arrest has been made in conjunction with this case, and there is still an ongoing investigation.
