BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Story Warren, publisher of the runaway hit The Green Ember series by S.D. Smith, is expanding its reach beyond the printed word with their first video game offering: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb. Alongside the game will come the twelfth volume in the Green Ember series, a novel by the same name. Both the novel and the video game were written by S. D. Smith.
Around the world, children of all ages have played Green Ember games in their backyards and homes. Now kids can enter into an action-adventure video game translated from the Green Ember universe. Story Warren is working together with Brazen Animation, a studio known for its world-class visuals and storytelling. Central to the vision of the game is a desire for kids to be able to “come up for air.” The creators have avoided ads, micro-transactions, and other elements that make video games a turnoff for parents.
“Honestly, this is a massive challenge for our team,” says creator S. D. Smith. “We’ve been told it won’t work financially again and again. But I believe some families want a radically hospitable game that treats children as human beings and is aimed at blessing and delighting them.”
The story features Helmer, a beloved character from the core series of The Green Ember, and tells his origin story. For years, S. D. Smith has received requests for Helmer’s story. Finally, fans of the series will get what they’ve been asking for, as a book and a game.
