SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Federal funding has been allocated for new police vehicles and body cameras for the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department.
On Friday, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) helped secure a number of West Virginia priorities in the bipartisan appropriations package.
The appropriations package includes $191,265,370 in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests, or earmarks, for 151 West Virginia projects.
Both Manchin and Capito say they are glad to have secured the funding for various projects in West Virginia and fund the federal government.
“As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I fight every day to ensure West Virginia receives the federal resources we need to build stronger communities, spur economic opportunity, and strengthen our energy and national security,” Manchin said.
“I was proud to be able to ensure these bills have West Virginia priorities included, and I look forward to completing the remaining bills to conclude the FY24 budget process soon,” Capito said.
Some of the projects include funding for the Nicholas County Commission to purchase equipment for the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department.
Nicholas County will receive $308,000 for six new police vehicles outfitted with emergency equipment and $84,000 for 20 new body cameras.
Nicholas County will also receive $2,062,000 for upgrades to dispatch system equipment within the county.
