BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A local group will gather in Bluefield this weekend as part of the national “No Kings Day” protests.
The event, organized by Mercer County WV Indivisible, will take place Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 617 Raleigh Street, commonly known as the parking lot and dog park area along Princeton Avenue.
“This past June, on Flag Day, there was a rally to remind us that the purpose of our American Revolution was to throw off the tyranny of a king, and to peacefully declare: America has no king,” said event organizer Debra Kilgore.
“We come together again on October 18 to join a national day of peaceful action to protest the increasing authoritarian acts of our government and to focus on the issues important to everyone in our community such as healthcare, veterans’ benefits, freedom of speech, and free education.”
Kilgore said the rally—part of the nationwide “No Kings Day” movement—encourages residents to unite around shared concerns.
“Residents of our communities will join with millions of Americans across the country on this day to say something we can all agree about: America does not have kings,” she said.
