MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office says deputies are actively patrolling school bus routes and will issue tickets to drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses.
The sheriff’s office said motorists who pass a school bus while its red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended will receive a citation rather than a warning.
“We choose tickets over tragedy,” the sheriff’s office said.
Drivers are being urged to slow down, avoid distractions and remain alert for school buses and students as they travel through the state.
