FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oak Hill man was sentenced to prison on Monday in relation to a third-degree-sexual assault conviction.
According to Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney, on June 5, 2023, Imani J. Willis, age 21, formerly of Oak Hill, West Virginia, was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr., in relation to a conviction for the felony crime of third-degree sexual assault.
Willis plead guilty to this offense on October 13, 2022, and was sentenced by Judge Blake to serve 1 to 5 years in prison. Willis must serve at least one year before potentially becoming eligible for parole.
In addition, Willis will be subject to 30 years of extended supervised release, and a period of supervised release can be converted to a prison sentence should the offender violate the respective terms of his or her supervised release.
On October 14, 2020, a member of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to a complaint pertaining to a juvenile reported missing. The mother of the juvenile in question reported that her daughter, 14 years old at the time, was missing and believed to be in the company of Willis.
The missing juvenile was located two days later on October 16, 2020. She was found inside an abandoned Oak Hill building. The juvenile subsequently partook in an interview which took place at the Just for Kids Child Advocacy Center.
Upon being questioned, the juvenile disclosed the nature of her relationship with Willis, which she confirmed to be sexual. In accordance with West Virginia law, a child under the age of sixteen is deemed incapable of legally consenting to sexual activity.
This crime was investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau. Victim support services for the family were provided by the Just for Kids Child Advocacy Center. The case was prosecuted by Anthony Ciliberti, Prosecuting Attorney for Fayette County, West Virginia.
