OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) — An Oak Hill man faces domestic battery and strangulation charges after allegedly choking his wife during an argument over the price of a knee brace, according to a police report.
Officers were dispatched to a home on State Avenue around 9:47 p.m. on October 27, 2026, following a report of a possible domestic disturbance.
The woman told police she and her husband, Logan Cook, began arguing in their bedroom after returning home. She said the dispute escalated when Cook threw a television remote at a television and picked up and threw their bed.
According to the report, she said Cook then slammed her head into the wall or window area and choked her for approximately 10 seconds, leaving her unable to breathe. Their child was asleep in another bedroom at the time.
The woman told officers Cook left when she asked him to, but returned shortly afterward and broke the back glass door while trying to retrieve his hat. He then left again.
Police reported observing minor bruising beneath the woman’s left ear and redness on her neck. Officers also documented damage in the bedroom, including a disassembled bedframe, displaced bedding and damaged curtains and window shades, along with the shattered back door.
A forensic specialist photographed the scene and injuries. Emergency medical personnel were requested, but the woman declined further treatment and transportation, according to the report.
Cook later returned to speak with officers. After being advised of his Miranda rights, he allegedly told police, “I took it too far.”
According to the report, Cook acknowledged pushing his wife into the bedroom wall and grabbing her neck. He denied choking her but later said he could have and could not remember squeezing her neck. Police said he subsequently described pushing her neck into the wall and “blanking out.”
Cook also acknowledged breaking the glass door when he returned for his belongings, according to police.
Officers arrested him on charges of domestic battery and strangulation. A firearm found in plain view in the bedroom was secured for safekeeping.
Cook was taken to the Oak Hill Police Department and then to Southern Regional Jail.
The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
