OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oak Hill man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for multiple methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution offenses, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

John Gray, 40, of Oak Hill, received a sentence of three years and one month, followed by three years of supervised release.

Federal prosecutors said Gray admitted to several drug sales to a confidential informant in 2023 and 2024.

According to court documents, Gray sold about 2 pounds of methamphetamine on March 28, 2023, and another 848 grams on May 1, 2023. He later admitted to selling 3 grams of fentanyl on May 3 and May 6, 2024.

Investigators said Gray also told law enforcement during a March 1, 2024 interview that he had been distributing approximately 3 grams of fentanyl three times per week from April 2023 until his arrest in March 2024.

Gray was one of four people indicted in a broader drug trafficking conspiracy. All four have pleaded guilty. His brother, Phillip Gray, 42, of Oak Hill, was sentenced on October 15, 2025, to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Leondus Whittenburg, 43, of Beckley, was sentenced on August 19, 2025, to seven years and 11 months for distributing 5 grams or more of methamphetamine. A fourth defendant, Daemien Thompson, 40, of Oak Hill, is scheduled to be sentenced on January 8, 2026.

U.S. Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentence and credited the FBI, ATF, and the Central Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force for their work on the case.

Chief U.S. District Judge Frank W. Volk imposed the sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian D. Parsons and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew D. Isabell prosecuted the case.
