OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The 27th Annual Oak Leaf Festival will return to Oak Hill from Aug. 31 through Sept. 6, bringing a week of live music, parades, contests, food and other community activities.
According to the City of Oak Hill, events will primarily take place at the Lively Amphitheater and along Main Street, with some activities scheduled at other locations throughout the city.
This year’s festival will welcome Hilary Williams, daughter of country music singer Hank Williams Jr., as a special guest.
The week will begin Monday, Aug. 31, with a Dance to the Oldies featuring Lee Dean at 6 p.m. Kids Night at The Frozen Barn is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1, followed by a performance by Intrained Professionals on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Thursday’s schedule includes karaoke and a gospel sing.
Activities will expand Friday, Sept. 4, with a Jeep and off-road vehicle show on Main Street, Hot Wheels Track, Cheat River, Hyped Up, a Parade of Lights and a performance by Alabama Sunset, an Alabama tribute band.
Saturday, Sept. 5, will feature the Tom Syner Memorial Oak Leaf Festival Parade, pumpkin weigh-in, cake walk, Oak Hill’s Got Talent competition, burnout event, Black Night Satellite, photography contest, a Main Street cruise-in and live music. The evening will conclude with Family Tradition, a Hank Williams Jr. tribute, from 8 to 10 p.m.
The festival will wrap up Sunday, Sept. 6, with the George Harrah Memorial Car and Motorcycle Show on Main Street, Grandparents Day activities, Hyped Up, New River Jack, a chili cook-off and a performance by Randy Gilkey. Fireworks are scheduled for dusk.
The festival also includes pageants held ahead of the main week of activities. The Teen, Miss, Ms. and Mrs. Oak Leaf/Bridge Day Pageant is scheduled for Aug. 15, while the Little Miss and Mr. Oak Leaf/Bridge Day Children’s Pageant is scheduled for Aug. 16.
Handicap parking will be available at 409 Main Street, across from the hospital.
