CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – As part of the West Virginia Oil Marketer & Grocer’s Association’s (OMEGA) 13th Annual “Every Child Deserves a Loving Home” Campaign, convenience stores across the state are selling paper flowers now through Mother’s Day (May 12) for $1 apiece to raise funds to help children dealing with crisis in the family.
Traci Nelson, President of OMEGA, said, “There are far too many West Virginia children in need of help due to the drug crisis, family instability and a host of other situations. This campaign is raising funds to be used by the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, which cares for tens of thousands of kids annually and has offices and child shelters across the state.”
Nelson said the brightly-colored, Mother’s Day themed, paper flowers will be sold at hundreds of OMEGA-member convenience and grocery stores statewide, including Little General Stores, Bruceton Petroleum/BFS, Go Mart, Par Mar Stores and DeFazio Oil locations. The public is encouraged to participate.
“Our members work and live in the communities where they operate and want to do what they can to help,” Nelson said. “And, given the level of public participation and support over the past twelve years, West Virginians truly believe in this cause.”
All funds raised through this statewide effort will go towards the Children’s Home Society’s assistance programs, which include; emergency child shelters, foster care, adoption support, mentoring, early intervention and numerous other family support programs.
Since 2003, OMEGA has raised over $3.3 million for charities benefiting children in West Virginia, $1.5 million of that has gone to support the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia.
