CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One person has been arrested after stabbing a man multiple times resulting in his death.
According to a criminal complaint, on September 12, Charleston Police responded to the scene of a stabbing after a witness at a nearby men’s shelter reported the incident.
The call came in at approximately 4:15 a.m. from an employee of the men’s shelter located near 505 Leon Sullivan Way. He informed Metro dispatchers that he had witnessed a stabbing and said a female witness was also present.
Responding officers found the victim, later identified as Brandon Bandy, unresponsive in a parking lot at 1015 Smith Street.
Mr. Bandy had suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso and neck. Medics from the Charleston Fire Department declared him dead at the scene.
A woman told officers she had witnessed the attack. She stated that she had been sleeping in the parking lot when she was approached by a man, Anthony Grose, who asked if he could “cuddle” with her.
After rejecting his advances, she heard a disturbance shortly afterward. She then saw Grose standing over Bandy, striking him multiple times in the chest.
Initially, she believed the men were fighting but soon realized Bandy was being stabbed.
Fearing for her safety, the woman fled to the men’s shelter and asked the staff to call 911. Video surveillance from the area supported the accounts provided by both the shelter employee and the woman.
Police apprehended Grose a short time after the incident. He later admitted to stabbing Bandy.
Grose is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail without bond.
