KENOVA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Multiple firearms and a large quantity of narcotics were discovered by law enforcement during a traffic stop on Wednesday.
According to the Kenova Police Department, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, officers from the KPD witnessed a moving traffic violation near 17th and Poplar Streets.
After initiating a traffic stop, officers were able to identify one of the passengers as Curtis Levon Capers.
Officers were aware that the Huntington Police Department was actively seeking Capers and that a warrant for his arrest had already been filed in Cabell County.
After facilitating the arrest of Capers, law enforcement officers discovered multiple firearms inside the vehicle as well as a large quantity of narcotics including methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Capera – 33 years old – is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions West Virginia as well as the State of Michigan at both the state and federal levels.
Subsequent to the arrest, officers obtained a search warrant for Capers’ residence.
Kenova officers, along with Ceredo Police officers, Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies, and the FBI Huntington Violent Crime Drug Task Force made entry to the residence at approximately 11:00pm, discovering additional firearms and distribution quantities amounting to more than 4,000 doses of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl inside. Cash discovered next to the distribution materials was seized as well.
Along with the Cabell County warrant, Capers had been charged in Wayne County with multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and multiple counts of being a prohibited person in possession of firearms.
Charges are also reportedly pending against other parties involved.
