MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Montana Street in Mount Hope late Saturday night, according to the City of Mount Hope Fire Department.
Upon arrival, crews were informed that someone might be inside the home, prompting an immediate search.
However, no individuals were found.
Firefighters did locate a dog inside the house, but it had died before they could reach it.
The Mount Hope Fire Department received assistance from the Oak Hill, Pax, and Bradley fire departments, as well as Jan-Care, the West Virginia State Police, the Mount Hope Police Department, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities have not yet released information on the cause of the fire.
This is the second house fire in Mount Hope within the last week, with the other fire occurring on Bailey Street.
