BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A two-year-old boy has died after being shot Friday evening in Berkeley County, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the area of Needmore Road around 5:38 p.m. on November 14 for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the child suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the boy later died from his injuries.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division responded, including Sgt. Funk, Deputy Weidman and Deputy Cardello, who took over the case.
Following their preliminary investigation, investigators arrested 29-year-old Zachary Allen O’Sullivan of Martinsburg on a charge of Child Neglect Resulting in Death. Authorities said O’Sullivan was later released on a $25,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office expressed its condolences to the family and said the investigation remains active. No further details are being released at this time.
