FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred during the early morning hours of Monday, May 4, in the Prudence area of Fayette County.
According to Sheriff Jess McMullen, deputies were dispatched after receiving a report that an injured person had arrived at a residence seeking help. Additional calls were also received reporting a man attempting to enter nearby homes.
When deputies arrived, they located an adult male suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Investigators said the victim identified Casey O. Workman as the suspect in the stabbing.
Deputies later located Workman at a nearby residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Initial responding deputies contacted the department’s Detective Bureau, which responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Detectives reportedly recovered multiple pieces of evidence from the area.
Workman has been charged with the felony offense of malicious wounding. Deputies also served an active Circuit Court bench warrant on him.
The victim was transported for medical treatment and was listed in stable condition.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing. All persons charged are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
