WASHINGTON, D.C. (LOOTPRESS) – President Donald Trump said Tuesday, November 3, that the United States will stop providing approximately $4 billion in annual aid to Israel by the end of 2026, citing an agreement reached months ago with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump made the remarks during an interview on Fox News’ Fox & Friends, saying the two leaders had agreed to end the annual payments.
“Now, as far as paying Israel, Bibi Netanyahu and I have made a deal that we give Israel $4 billion a year, and we made a deal months ago that we’re stopping,” Trump said.
The president indicated that the United States would no longer provide the regular annual funding after this year but could continue assisting Israel if necessary.
“We’ve already agreed that by the end of this year we won’t be paying Israel. Now we’ll help Israel if they need it,” Trump said.
According to Reuters, Trump said Israel no longer needs the funding and argued that U.S. financial assistance to the country has become a political issue, with some Democrats and left-wing politicians using it to criticize Republicans. Reuters
The United States has provided Israel with billions of dollars in military assistance annually under a longstanding security partnership. Much of that funding supports Israel’s defense capabilities and purchases of American military equipment.
Trump’s announcement would represent a significant change in U.S. foreign assistance policy if implemented.
However, the president did not provide details about how the agreement would be carried out or whether additional congressional action would be necessary.
It also remains unclear whether the proposed change would affect other forms of U.S. military cooperation or emergency assistance to Israel.
The announcement concerns regular annual military aid rather than a complete end to American support for Israel.
