LOGAN COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Logan County man has been arrested following an investigation into the theft of copper and other materials from a utility contractor’s storage lot, according to the West Virginia State Police.
State police said Trooper First Class T.D. Adkins received a complaint on June 11 from representatives of Davis H. Elliot Company regarding a breaking and entering incident at the company’s fenced storage lot in Logan County.
Investigators said copper and other supplies valued at more than $1,000 were stolen during the incident.
During the investigation, troopers reviewed surveillance footage from a local gas station and identified a suspect as 39-year-old Joseph Adam Lett of Holden. Police said Lett was also observed on surveillance video inside the Davis H. Elliot Company storage lot.
According to state police, additional information developed during the investigation suggested Lett may have been involved in other thefts from the company on previous occasions and may have acted alongside other individuals.
On June 12, Lett was arrested by Trooper J.D. Adkins of the West Virginia State Police Hamlin Detachment. He was charged with breaking and entering, grand larceny and conspiracy.
Following his arraignment, Lett was transported to the Western Regional Jail, where he was being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
