MONONGALIA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a fatal two-vehicle accident that occurred early Tuesday morning on Blue Horizon Drive.
According to a press release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:25 a.m.
The initial investigation revealed that a northbound Toyota SUV crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound coal truck.
The driver of the Toyota SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coal truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction team is assisting with the investigation.
Emergency responders from Monongalia County EMS, Cassville Volunteer Fire Department, Brookhaven VFD, Mt. Morris VFD, Granville VFD, and the West Virginia Public Service Commission also provided assistance.
The names of those involved have not been released, and no additional details are available at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Sheriff Todd H. Forbes.
